Bruins Shutout Bobcats Again

November 9, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Austin Bruins News Release

For the second night in a row, the Austin Bruins (14-4-0) held the Bismarck Bobcats (10-5-1) scoreless as the Bruins won 1-0 Saturday at Riverside Arena in Austin to complete the weekend sweep.

Neither the Bruins nor Bobcats could solve the opposing goaltender in a scoreless first period. Austin outshot Bismarck 8-5 in the opening frame, and Nick Lehr (Roseville, MN) had to make a few key saves on a flurry of chances during the Bobcats power-play.

For the second night in a row, there was no scoring in the middle period, as the Bruins outshot the Bobcats 7-3. Both teams struggled again on the power-play, each going 0-4 through two periods.

The only goal of the night was scored by Trey Dodd (St. Louis, MO), whose shot from the slot rang off the crossbar and in past Aaron Nelson (Bismarck, ND) at the midway point of the third period. It was Dodd s second career goal and second of the weekend. Lehr made 17 saves in his first shutout of the season, while Nelson stopped 23 Bruins shots.

Austin next plays two consecutive home-and-home weekend series against the Brookings Blizzard. The Bruins travel to Brookings Friday night for a 7:15pm start, and then welcome the Blizzard to Riverside Arena Saturday at 7:05pm. Both games can be seen on fasthockey.com or heard on 1480AM KAUS.
