Fairbanks hangs on, beats Kenai River 3-1

Duggie Lagrone scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs held off the challenges of the Kenai River Brown Bears in a tough 3-1 win.

Fairbanks took over the lead for good with a goal by Lagrone at 14:31 in the first period. Kyle Lee assisted on the tally. The Ice Dogs were led by Lagrone, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Kenai River was unable to stop Fairbanks from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Dogs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Fairbanks also got a goal from Brett Gervais as well. More assists for Fairbanks came via Colton Wolter, Yannick Vedel, and Viktor Liljegren, who contributed one a piece.

The Brown Bears' defensemen bolstered Kenai River's offensive attack, as they bombarded Kevin Aldridge with 11 shots.

The Brown Bears were led by Jake Bushey, who scored the team's only goal. Bushey scored 13:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zack Zulkanycz picked up the assist.

Aldridge recorded 23 saves for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Zach Quinn made 31 saves for Kenai River on 34 shots. The Brown Bears totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
