BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (29-12) bested the Reno Bighorns (13-28) for the second consecutive night in a 114-104 win at the Dignity Health Event Center. With its 29^th victory of the season, Bakersfield has tied the most wins in franchise history (finished 29-21 in the 2010-11 season).
The Jam finished the first quarter with a 30-24 lead and stretched that to as many as 16 points in the second quarter (50-34). However, Reno went on a run in the last couple of minutes to cut the Jam's lead to four points at the half (54-40). Both teams kept it close in the third quarter and went into the final frame tied up at 75. Fourth quarter was the difference in the game as Bakersfield outscored Reno 29-19. The Jam shot 46 percent in the game, compared to just 36 percent for the Bighorns. For the second consecutive night, Bakersfield out-rebounded Reno 52-35.
Six Jam players scored in double-figures, led by Jerel McNeal's 20 points. James Nunnally came off the bench and scored 14 points. Brian Butch (13 points, 12 rebounds), Quincy Acy (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Damion James (10 points, 11 rebounds) each finished with a double-double. Renaldo Major had 11 points.
The Bighorns were paced by Samardo Samuels who scored 19 points. Ronald Dupree and Tajuan Porter had 18 points apiece while Orien Greene and Desmon Farmer each finished with 13 points.
Bakersfield will next travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the 66ers on Tuesday, March 19 at 5 p.m. PST.
