Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends hosted the Bakersfield Jam in a double-header this weekend, and the two teams split the wins. After falling to the Legends 105-94 Friday night, the Jam came back Saturday and held Texas to their lowest score of the season 88-102.
The Jam got a quick start, going up 6-0 in the first two minutes. The Legends forged on and took control later in the quarter, but the brief lead would be the last of the game. A one-point deficit turned into 18 in the second and the Legends went into the locker room trailing 39-55. The Jam smothered Legends players under the basket, forcing them to settle for outside shots that were few and far between. The Legends shot a season-low 16% from beyond the arc and turned the ball over 26 times, allowing Bakersfield to command the game. A glimmer of hope came in the third as the deficit was cut to 8, but the Jam held onto the lead to refuse a sweep in the season series.
Doron Lamb led the Legends in scoring with 20 points while Eric Griffin (16 points, 11 rebounds), Damion James (13 points, 11 rebounds), and Renaldo Balkman (12 points, 12 rebounds) all added double-doubles. Japanese guard Yuki Togashi scored his first points in the NBA Development League with a long ball in the fourth.
Earl Barron led all scorers with 27 points while Elijah Millsap (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Mac Koshwal (14 points, 10 rebounds) each added double-doubles.
The Legends will hit the road for their first game in December, taking on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers this Thursday at 7pm. The game will be broadcast live on the NBA Development League's YouTube.
