
Iowa Energy Fall to Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Iowa Energy (3-1) lost 102-97 to the Grand Rapids Drive (3-3) Saturday night at the Deltaplex Arena.
A close first quarter consisted of six ties and two lead changes to start the game. Kalin Lucas had eight first quarter points. Kelsey Barlow would collect nine points for Grand Rapids, all of them coming off of three-pointers. The Energy would take the lead at the end of the first quarter, 23-22.
After exchanging the lead several times to start the second quarter, the Energy began to open up a lead, eventually leading by 11 points. Jordan Hamilton, in his first game with the Energy, had a strong second quarter with eight points. The Energy would take a five-point lead into halftime, leading 54-47.
Grand Rapids would jump out to an eight-point lead during the third quarter. Kelsey Barlow, Lorenzo Brown and Brandon Fields had a strong third quarter for the Drive. The Energy came back to tie the game with 1:34 left in the third quarter. Pierre Henderson-Niles would lead the Energy with six points during the third quarter. Grand Rapids held a 75-72 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Drive would continue their hot hand behind the arc and would jump out to a 13-point fourth quarter lead. Iowa would put together a 10-0 run thanks to Diante Garrett, Kalin Lucas and Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jordan Adams. Following the 10-0 run, the lead was down to only three points. Grand Rapids led 100-97 in the closing seconds. The Energy were unable to tie the game at 100 after several chances at hitting a game-tying three-pointer to lose for the first time this season.
Diante Garrett led the team with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Energy will travel to Fort Wayne to play the Mad Ants on Tuesday at 6pm. The game will be broadcasted on 1350 KRNT and available to watch on YouTube. The Energy will return home for Opening Night at Wells Fargo Arena on Dec. 6 at 7pm against the Delaware 87ers.
