Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, NEV., Nov. 29, 2014- With the Bighorns' Brady Heslip breaking the NBA Development League all-time single game three-point record, as well as the Bighorns shattering the all-time three-point single game record as a team, the Reno Bighorns trampled the Idaho Stampede 149-126 in the second of the back-to back series in Boise.
Brady Heslip led the Bighorns with a phenomenal 45 points, breaking his previous personal record of 40. Heslip netted 13-of-20 three-pointers, breaking the NBA D-League all-time three-point record. Heslip previously held the all-time single game three-point record with 11, after breaking Troy Daniel's record of 10 during the Bighorns home opener in mid-November.
"It felt great to get a win tonight," said Heslip. "I have to keep improving my three's every day and find other ways to score when being denied the ball."
The Bighorns made the record books tonight after shattering the previous all-time NBA D-League record for most threes made in a single game with 28 three pointers. The previous record was held by the Los Angeles D-Fenders with 26 three's.
"It's great to have a couple of those three point records," said Bighorns head coach Dave Arseneault. "But what's more important is that we found a way to get a win against a good team and a well coached team after a tough loss Friday."
David Stockton added a double-double 19 points and 12 assists. Stockton is currently sitting second in the NBA D-League for most assists in the season.
Bighorns' Tajuan Porter scored 22 points, followed by David Wear with a double-double 19 points, three assists, and seven rebounds. Assignment player Eric Moreland tallied 12 points, and 21 rebounds.
Joel Wright led the Stampede with 27 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Kevin Murphy recorded 23 points, six rebounds and six assists.
The Bighorns shot 50% at the three-point line compared to the Stampede's 37%. Both teams shot 51% at the free-throw line.
The Bighorns biggest lead came in the start of the third quarter with a lead of 30. The Stampede only held a one-point in the first quarter.
"I like the improvements we have made since the beginning of the season and I hope we can continue to move in a positive direction," said Arseneault.
The Bighorns continue on the road facing the Bakersfield Jam on Friday, December 5.
Reno will return home on Friday, December 12 to once again play the Stampede. The two teams will meet six times this season.
