Jam Fall to Legends in Season Opener

BAKERSFIELD - Phoenix Suns assignee T.J. Warren scored a game-high 40 points but the Bakersfield Jam (0-1) fell to the visiting Texas Legends (1-0) 127-125 on Friday night.

The Jam jumped out to a 20-7 lead to start the game and finished the first quarter with a 44-32 advantage while shooting 64 percent from the field. After leading by as many as 20 points in the opening quarter, Bakersfield's momentum slowly started to vanish in the second quarter as Texas pulled within nine points at the half (76-67).

After going back-and-forth for most of the third quarter, Bakersfield entered the final 12 minutes of the game with 106-101 lead. Under two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Bakersfield trailed by as many as five points but were able to cut it down to one possession. With a chance to tie it and send it to overtime, the Jam missed a last second jumper resulting in a defeat to start the 2014-15 season.

Tyler Ennis, on assignment from the Phoenix Suns, posted 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Elijah Millsap recorded 21 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Jamil Wilson scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Legends had seven players score in double-figures, led by Renaldo Balkman who had 26 points off the bench. Mike James recorded 24 points and six assists while Eric Griffin contributed 22 points and six rebounds.

Bakersfield is back on the court tomorrow when they host the Grand Rapids Drive at 7:00 p.m. PT.
