Skyforce Prevails in Low Scoring Affair

Fort Wayne, IN - The Sioux Falls Skyforce beat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 77-70 in a low scoring affair on Saturday night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The teams combined to shoot only 34.5% (57-165) on the night.

Rookies Shawn Jones, 13 points and 19 rebounds, and Tyler Johnson, 12 points and 10 rebounds, both logged double-doubles in their first game with the Skyforce (1-0). Chris Allen led the Skyforce with 19 points. Khem Birch added eight points and 11 rebounds and Larry Drew II scored 11 points. Mid-way through the fourth quarter Allen and Johnson hit back-to-back three pointers to give the Skyforce a 67-63 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.

The Mad Ants (0-1) were lead by Andre Emmett's 20 points and five rebounds. Rookie C.J. Fair chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Myck Kabongo added six points and 12 rebounds. Fort Wayne shot 31% (27-86) from the field and 50% (11-22) from the free-throw line. The Mad Ants were outrebounded by the Skyforce (53-51) but did grab 20 offensive rebounds, five more than the Skyforce.

Fort Wayne is back in action at home tomorrow night (5:00 ET) against the Maine Red Claws (1-0). The Skyforce will head back to Sioux Falls and prepare for their home opener on Nov. 22 against the Iowa Energy (1-0).
