Jam Fall at Home to D-Fenders

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (19-23) fell to the Los Angeles D-Fenders (26-16) 126-114 Tuesday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Los Angeles' Vander Blue led all scorers with 51 (17/29 FGs, 14-14 FTs) while Bakersfield was paced by Terrico White's 34 points (13/17 FGs).

Both teams shot better than 54 percent from the field in the opening period, but the D-Fenders held the edge 33-29 after one quarter of play. Los Angeles' Blue (15) and Bakersfield's White (13) each had a double-digit scoring performance in the first quarter. The Jam outscored the D-Fenders 31-24 in the second quarter to take a 60-57 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was a rough one for the Jam and it proved to be the difference in the game. The Jam got outscored 36-22 in the quarter and went into the final frame with a 93-82 deficit. The D-Fenders stretched their lead to as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter. Bakersfield went on an 8-0 run late in the game, but their deficit was too big to overcome.

Askia Booker tallied 22 points (8/12 FGs), five rebounds and three assists off the bench. Cory Jefferson posted 18 points and nine rebounds, while Xavier Silas (13) and Deonte Burton (12) also hit the double-digit scoring mark.

In addition to Blue, the D-Fenders were led by Ryan Gomes (28 points, 11 rebounds) and Jabari Brown (23 points).

Bakersfield will next take on the Texas Legends at home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PT.
