Jam Events Center Hosts Nestle Packaging Summit
February 25, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Bakersfield Jam News Release
(Bakersfield, Calif. - February 25, 2010) - Nestle Packaging employees from around the world returned to their hotel tired and happy after a day of Olympic-themed fun at the Bakersfield Jam Events Center on Wednesday.
The Nestle Packaging Summit - taking place in Bakersfield from February 23-25 - visited the Events Center to add some fun and physical activity to the conference. Jam staff, coaches and players embraced the Olympic theme that Nestle used for the entire Summit to create an exciting day of team-building entertainment.
"We just gave Teresa [Houston, Jam VP of Sales & Community Partnerships] the Olympic theme and told her to run with it," said Nestle employee Casey Hefner, who helped coordinate the afternoon's activities. "We're thrilled with the results."
Beginning with an Opening Ceremony that included an introduction for every participant and motivational speeches from Jam Owner Stan Ellis and Head Coach Will Voigt, Nestle employees enjoyed their very own Olympics. Attendees were split into three teams, each one led by several members of the Bakersfield Jam team, and competed in several games and team-building exercises.
Medals were awarded to the teams in musical chairs, a relay race involving dressing in oversized Jam uniforms and two different shooting games. A panel of judges including Jam staffers and Assistant Coach Greg Minor then graded each of the teams on an organized group cheer, eventually naming overall Gold, Silver and Bronze medal-winning teams.
"We wanted to do something physical, since the rest of the Summit is sitting in conference rooms and watching presentations," said Anne Roulin, Nestle's Global Head of Packaging and Design. "I am happy with how we were able to link the business aspects of team-building to this event."
The afternoon concluded with a catered meal and drinks in the Jam Events Center's upstairs lounge. Jam players, coaches and staff joined Nestle employees to enjoy the spread and some post-event discussion.
"This was just a fantastic event," Hefner said. "This is the second time we've done something like this, and this was way over-the-top better than our last experience."
