Erie BayHawks News Release

ERIE - Darnell Jackson poured in 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Erie BayHawks defeated the Dakota Wizards, 114-108.

On assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the power forward out of Kansas University got the starting nod and played a game-high 41 minutes. The BayHawks led by as many as 21 points in the first half and held off a late Dakota push that cut Erie's lead to five with five minutes to play in the game.

Cedric Jackson, playing in his first home game since being reassigned to the team after a stint with the Cavs, added 19 points and 9 assists. Jackie Manuel dropped in 16 and Danny Green, also on assignment from the Cavaliers, netted 15 points as the BayHawks improved to 13-22.

Renaldo Major led the Wizards with 19 while Maurice Baker added 16 points and 10 rebounds. The loss drops Dakota to 18-16.

The BayHawks and Wizards play again Friday, a game that features the team's promotional highlight of the season, "Cavaliers Affiliate Night." The night features the Cavalier Girls Dance Team, the Cavs Hip-Hop Scream Team, Moondog the mascot and Quicken Loans Arena host, Ahmaad. The BayHawks will wear the Cavs home white uniforms.

Memphis Grizzlies center, Hasheem Thabeet, is expected to join Dakota on assignment. The 7-3 center from the University of Connecticut was the Grizzlies second overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft and becomes the highest-drafted NBA player to join an NBA D-League roster.

Tip-off Friday is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Tullio Arena box office or at ticketmaster.com.
