BAKERSFIELD, January 7, 2014 - The Bakersfield Jam fell to the Iowa Energy 133-121 in their second and final game of the NBA D-League Showcase.
Bakersfield got off to a strong start as they took an early 11-2 lead and finished the first quarter with a 29-21 advantage. However, the Jam struggled defensively the next two quarters and allowed Iowa to score 42 points in the second period and 44 in the third. After trailing by as many as 24 points in the final quarter, Bakersfield managed to cut their deficit to 11 points but that was as close as they got.
Ian Clark posted 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Ike Diogu off the bench added 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. James Nunnally recorded 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while Jared Cunningham also tallied 19 points. Brian Butch finished with 14 points and Rudy Gobert contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Shabazz Muhammad, on assignment from the Minnesota Timberwolves, had a game-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds. Larry Owens and Othyus Jeffers each had 19 points.
Bakersfield will return home for a match against the Reno Bighorns on Friday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
