SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, held a youth basketball clinic inside the YMCA of Great Springfield on Monday, January 6 as a part of NBA FIT Live Healthy Week featuring Armor players Justin Johnson and Dennis Horner as well as Armor head coach Doug Overton.

NBA/WNBA FIT is the league's comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through programs, events, and products. NBA FIT encourages fans to team-up with the NBA family to be active, eat healthy and play together. As a part of that mission, the Armor host annual basketball clinics, also known as FIT clinics, to coincide with 'NBA FIT Week.'

"It was a fun time and it was great to be able to teach them the fundamentals of the game," said Armor forward Dennis Horner. "It's a great feeling because they come out and support us and it feels really good as a person to be out there interacting with the kids."

Along with Horner, Armor guard Justin Johnson was also on-hand to interact with the kids and share his wealth of basketball knowledge.

"They were eager to learn and it was a great experience for them to be on an NBA-sized court learning the fundamentals of the game such as dribbling, passing and shooting," said Armor guard Justin Johnson. "They look up to us because they see that we know the game and have a lot of knowledge and experience, and it was amazing to be able to give back and share what we've learned."

Springfield will now travel to Reno, Nevada for the NBA Development League Showcase to take on the host Reno Bighorns on Wednesday, January 8 at 10:00 p.m. EST. For more information on the Armor, visit www.ArmorHoops.com or call (413) 746-3263. Keep up with the Armor on Facebook and Twitter !
