Dayton Gems News Release

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Gems have announced that goaltender Jeff Jakaitis will be returning to the team for this evening's game home against Evansville.

Jakaitis was called up to the AHL last week and played three games with Worcester Sharks. With the Sharks, Jakaitis recorded 92 saves and had a save percentage of .893.

This will be the second time this season Jakaitis has been with the Gems. Prior to his stint in the AHL, Jakaitis played 37 games with the Gems and proved to be a key component for the team. He logged 2224 minutes in front of the goal and recorded 1,243 saves.

In the month of the December, Jakaitis was named the Goalie of the Week early in the month and was also honored by being named to the CHL All-Star game. Jakaitis was the only member of the Gems to be named to the roster.

Jakaitis will be replacing Jon Olthuis on the active roster. Olthuis was waived by the Gems early this morning.

In addition to Jakaitis rejoining the team, Matt Miller will also be on the roster for this evening's game. Miller was activated from the injured reserve list.

Tonight's game against Evansville will start at 7:30 p.m. at Hara Arena. In addition to all the players returning to the ice for the Gems, Jerry "The King" Lawler will be at the game as well.

The 30-year veteran wrestler is a commentator and wrestler for WWE. He will be signing autographs during the game and will also be a part of the first intermission entertainment.

Lawler will also be on WONE 980 AM at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.

The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
