Bangor Lumberjacks News Release
Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that they have signed INF Aaron Davidson to a contract. To make room for Davidson on the roster, the Lumberjacks released INF Kenichi Miura and RHP Luke DeBold.
Davidson, a 46th round draft choice of the Cleveland Indians in the 2002 draft, played last year for the Burlington (NC) Indians of the Appalachian League, hitting .180 in limited playing time. A native of San Dimas, CA, Davidson has some pop. In 50 at bats last season, he hit three solo home runs and two triples. He also possesses a solid glove at second base, committing just one error in 34 total chances.
"It's at the point in the season where if guys are not performing, we need to bring in new players who will play with enthusiasm and provide a spark for the rest of the team," stated Lumberjacks General Manager Curt Jacey.
Miura signed with the Lumberjacks from the International Baseball Academy, but had hit just .196 with two RBI's in 17 games this season. DeBold, a product of the University of Miami, had a 0-1 record in 8 appearances with a 15.19 ERA.
The Lumberjacks return home to Mahaney Diamond on Friday, June 27 to take on the Quebec Capitales at 7:15 PM. It is Mini-bat night so all season ticket, ten pack and five pack ticket holders will receive a free Lumberjacks mini-bat courtesy of Unicell. There will also be a mini-bat handed out to the first few hundred fans through the front gate, which opens at 6 PM. Tickets are available by stopping in the Lumberjacks Pro Shop in the Bangor Mall or by calling (207) 947-1900.
