Elmira Jackals News Release

As 2009 comes to a close, those reflecting on the first part of the ECHL season will look at the large amount of success the Elmira Jackals have had playing at First Arena.

Elmira's record of 8-2-2-1 at First Arena is the best in the American Conference percentage-wise, and First Arena fans have been a big reason for the team's success. In Saturday night's 6-3 win over the Reading Royals, Elmira recorded its eighth sellout of 2009-2010 (through the second fewest amount of home games, 13, in the conference), with 4,076 fans attending the game. The crowd brought the Jackals attendance to 100.5% in 2009-2010, approximately 23% more than any other team in the league.

Last season, the Jackals tied for the league lead with five sellouts. With 14 sellouts in their inaugural ECHL season, the Jackals are up to 27 capacity crowds since the start of the 2007-2008 season.

Statistically, the Jackals have been dominant in front of the hometown crowd this season. At First Arena, the Jackals have the best goals for/goals against ratio in the American Conference, scoring 51 goals while allowing only 36. The Jackals two home regulation losses are the fewest in the ECHL and the Jackals look to make it three consecutive wins at home when they return home on Friday night to host the Trenton Devils.

GRATCHEV NOTCHES FIRST CAREER HAT TRICK

While the Jackals fell 4-3 at Wheeling on Sunday, the Jackals received all three goals from forward Maxime Gratchev. Gratchev scored a goal with the Jackals at even strength, short handed, and on the power play. The rookie is up to 13 goals this season, one behind Justin Donati for the team lead. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRETT GALLANT

Monday marks winger Brett Gallant's 21st birthday. The Summerside, Prince Edward Island native recorded his ECHL-leading 16th major penalty of the season, engaging in a fight with Wheeling's Ryan Schnell at the beginning of the second period on Sunday.

ATOP THE LEAGUE

Justin Donati paces the ECHL with 42 points in 28 games, and is tied with his twin brother Tyler for the ECHL's assists lead with 28 assists.

STREAK CONTINUES

Tyler Donati recorded a power-play assist on Sunday for the fourth straight game and brought his assist streak up to five games to tie for the current league lead. His 15 assists on the man advantage lead the ECHL.
