Defenseman Sipotz Assigned From AHL Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Brian Sipotz has been assigned to Gwinnett from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey league. Sipotz last appeared in the ECHL in two games with the Gladiators during the 2004-05 regular season.

Sipotz, a fourth round draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001, has skated with the Wolves in each of the past five seasons, amassing 46 points on nine goals and 37 assists. This season, the 28-year-old South Bend, Indiana native has two assists and 18 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Wolves.

Prior to making his professional debut with Chicago in 2004, Sipotz skated four collegiate seasons with Miami University (Ohio), where he registered five assists and 139 penalty minutes in 119 games.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Tuesday, December 29th vs. Florida at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
