Rockland County, NY - The New Jersey Jackals got two RBIs apiece from Santiago Chirino, Russ Olive and Jason Agresti and handed the New York Boulders a 10-6 Frontier League loss on Friday at Palisades Credit Union Park in the first game of the teams' three-game weekend series.

New Jersey jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and third innings - the first inning run coming courtesy of an Olive RBI double, the tally in the third on an Olive solo home run, his third of the season.

Both offenses erupted in the fourth inning with each side scoring five runs. The Jackals got their five on an RBI single by Agresti, a bases loaded walk issued to Demetrius Moorer, a run-scoring groundout from Chris Carpio and a two-run single by Chirino. The Boulders got all their runs in the frame on home runs - a solo shot by Devonte Mitchell and a grand slam by Gian Martellini that left New York trailing 7-5,

The homer was Mitchell's second of the year, while it was Martellini's first.

Neither starter - the Boulders' Dan Wirchansky or the Jackals' Chase Ingram - made it through the fourth inning.

New Jersey tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Agresti and when Boulders' second baseman Zach Kirtley threw wildly while attempting to complete an inning ending double play off the bat of Carpio. The two runs increased the Jackals' advantage to 9-5.

The Jackals made it 10-5 with a single run in the ninth when Dalton Combs scored on a Matt Valin wild pitch.

An RBI single in the bottom of the ninth by the Boulders' Zach Penprase wrapped up the night's scoring.

Jack Weinberger picked up the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for New Jersey, while Wirchansky was tagged with the loss for New York.

The Boulders and Jackals continue their weekend series with an 6:30 p.m. match-up on Saturday. The two teams will wrap up the three-game set with a Father's Day matinee on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
