Jackals sink Cutters

August 5, 2004 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ- Behind Josh Miller and a late charge, the Jackals blanked the Cutters by a final score of 7-0.

The Jackals would draw first blood in the bottom of the third. Jay LaFlair hit a solo homerun, his fourth of the season. Following a Juan Infante single, Zack Smithlin doubled, but an error by Cutters' second baseman P.J. Johnston on the throw home, allowed Infante to score. Through three, the Jackals led 2-0.

Starting pitchers Tim Keinath and Josh Miller would take over from there, keeping the respective opposition at bay for the rest of their outings.

New Haven made a call to the bullpen entering the bottom of the eighth, and it was all downhill from there. Kevin Grijak, Wilton Veras, and Wady Almonte all tallied single RBI's in the inning. Chris Rowan would add two more runs, on a two run homer, his 16th of the year. After eight innings of play, the Jackals led 7-0, and that is the way the game would end.

New Jersey starting pitcher Josh Miller pitched seven amazing innings. He scattered five hits, while striking out six, walking two, and blanking New Haven.

Tim Keinath, of the Cutters, had a very strong outing in a losing effort. Keinath also pitched seven innings, giving up two runs, one of them being earned, while allowing five hits.
