Jackals Rookie Donati Named ECHL Player Of The Week

The ECHL announced Tuesday that Elmira Jackals rookie forward Justin Donati has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 28-Jan. 3.

Donati collected four goals and six assists in four games last week to lead the league with 10 points. He tops the league with 52 points this season and became the first ECHL player in 2009-2010 to reach 50 points when he scored a goal in the third period on Friday against Trenton.

This is Donati's fourth honor of 2009-2010 and second player of the week award. The Oakville, Ontario native was the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 9-Nov. 15 and was named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month for October. In addition, Donati was selected as a starter for the American Conference in the upcoming 2010 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Reebok and brought to you by Toyota and the City of Ontario.

On behalf of Justin Donati, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-2001, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The Jackals host the Florida Everblades on Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7:35 p.m.
