
Pitton Returns From Edmonton, Sorochan Back To AHL

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a proud affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, announced Edmonton has reassigned goaltender Bryan Pitton (PITT-in) to the Thunder and goaltender Aaron Sorochan has been recalled from the Thunder to Springfield.
Selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by Edmonton in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft by Edmonton and under NHL contract to the Oilers, Pitton is 4-1-0 with two overtime wins in his last five starts and 7-8-1 with a goals-against average of 3.15 and a save percentage of.912 in 17 games for the Thunder.
The 6-foot-2, 176-pound netminder has been recalled to the NHL twice this season, most recently on Jan. 1. He suited up for the Oilers on Jan. 2 at San Jose and backed up goaltender Jeff-Drouin Deslauriers, but did not play.
Pitton played for Stockton as a rookie in 2008-09 and was 9-19-3 with a goals-against average of 3.39 and a save percentage of.886 in 34 games.
Sorochan, 25, was assigned to the Thunder on Jan. 1 and has appeared in one game, making 38 saves against Idaho on Jan 1.
In 10 AHL games this year, the 6-foot, 185-pound goaltender is 1-5-0 with a.871 save percentage and a 3.99 save percentage.
The Thunder returns to play on Friday, January 8 to finish a four-game road trip, beginning at 7:00 p.m. against the Bakersfield Condors at Rabobank Arena. The game can be heard and viewed online at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks (audio is free of charge).
