Reagan Rome To Be Inducted Into Reading Eagle Wall Of Honor
January 5, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that Reagan Rome will be inducted into the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor in a ceremony during the Royals match-up against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, January 15, 2010 (7:05 pm). Rome, who holds the team record for all-time regular season career games played (176), is expected to be present at the Sovereign Center that night to accept the honor. The Nesbitt, Manitoba native will be the sixth person inducted into the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor, joining current Head Coach Larry Courville, Ryan Flinn, Athletic Trainer Brian Grogesky, Jon Franscisco, and Cody Rudkowsky.
Rome, a defenseman who played in four separate seasons with the Royals beginning in 2003 and ending in 2007, registered 12 goals and 61 assists (73 points) and 398 penalty minutes and played to a collective (+23) in his 176 regular season games as a Royal. Known as a rugged leader, Rome's career 398 pims, which included 15 fighting majors, is second only to Malcolm MacMillan as the most ever for a member of the Reading organization. Rome, who was acquired by the Royals from the Cincinnati Cyclones during the 2003-04 season, was an integral part of that team's dramatic (if somewhat unexpected) playoff run to the National Conference Finals. Rome, who was perhaps the best shut-down one-on-one defender in Reading team history, set his career offensive output with the 2005-06 Royals, when he racked up 30 points (6g-24a) in 49 games for Reading.
The Royals return to the ice on Saturday (January 9, 2010 @ 7:05) when the Cincinnati Cyclones visit the Sovereign Center for the only time during the 2009-10 regular season. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 6:35 pm.
