Elmira's Justin Donati Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Elmira Jackals rookie and ECHL All-Star Game starting forward Justin Donati is the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 28-Jan. 3.

He also won the honor for the Week of Nov. 9-15 and was named ECHL Rookie of the Month for October.

The 23 year old registered the first back-to-back multi-goal games of his career with three points (2g-1a) in a 6-3 win at Johnstown on Dec. 31 and four points (2g-2a) in a 7-4 loss to Trenton on Jan. 1. His league-leading 10 points during the week helped Elmira go 2-2-0 and maintain second place in the East Division at 15-15-4.

Donati leads the league with 52 points and 34 assists in 32 games while he is tied for third with 18 goals. He is currently riding a four-game point streak (4g-6a) and leads the Jackals in all scoring categories.

He played for Las Vegas in 2007-08 and had 11 assists in 14 games for the Wranglers. Donati has played the last two seasons for the University of Prince Edward Island where he had 58 points (22g-36a) in 31 games. He played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2003-07 and had 269 points (120g-149a) in 213 regular season games and 46 points (24g-22a) in 40 playoff games for Oshawa, Sudbury and Toronto.

On behalf of Justin Donati, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
