Jackals Dominate Thunder, 8-0

Eleven different Jackals registered at least one point, including multi-point games for Chris Langkow, Allan McPherson, Tyler Currier, Zach Cohen, Jacob MacDonald, and Justin Bernhardt, while C.J. Motte turned aside all 28 Thunder shots to earn his second shutout of the season.
Tyler Currier started the scoring early for the Jackals with his 15th goal of the year, only 3:01 into the game. Justin Bernhardt tallied his first point since returning from injury on Currier's goal. Late in the period, the reigning Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week, Allan McPherson continued his stellar play with his 15th goal of the season, and his fifth goal in the last three games. Cason Hohmann extended his point streak to ten games on McPherson's tally. C.J. Motte stopped all nine shots he faced in the period.
The Jackals were just getting started. Zach Cohen scored his first goal as a Jackal, shorthanded, to give Elmira a 3-0 lead early in the second period. At the 11:30 mark, Chris Langkow tallied a power play goal for the Jackals to chase Kent Simpson from the Adirondack crease. Unfortunately for the Thunder, Jacob DeSerres fared no better in net, as Kyle Stroh scored his first goal as a Jackal on the first shot he faced. C.J. Motte was again perfect stopping all eight shots he faced, as the Jackals took a 5-0 lead into the third period.
The Jackals extended their lead on one of the strangest goals they have scored all season. Kyle Bushee dumped the puck into the Adirondack end from center ice, and the puck bounced into the net, to give the Jackals a 6-0 lead. It was Bushee's first goal in his second tenure with the Jackals. With under five minutes to play, Jacob MacDonald scored his league leading fourth shorthanded goal of the season to give Elmira a 7-0 lead. The final tally was provided by Chris Langkow, his third point of the game, with only six seconds remaining, to give the Jackals a dominant, 8-0 victory. It was the largest margin of victory for the Jackals since Elmira defeated Gwinnett, 11-3, back on November 14, 2009. It was also the largest shutout in franchise history.
C.J. Motte made 28 saves on 28 shots to earn the win and the shutout for the Jackals. Each Adirondack netminder allowed four goals, with Kent Simpson making 15 saves on 19 shots and taking the loss, while Jacob DeSerres made his Thunder debut, making seven saves on 11 shots.
