Allan McPherson Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, proudly announced today that forward Allan McPherson has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for February 1-7.

McPherson, 24, capped off a stellar weekend with his first professional hat trick in Sunday's 5-4 victory against Manchester. The 5-foot-10 180-pound forward recorded a goal in Saturday's contest versus the Monarchs and added four points the next day with three goals and one assist while posting a +5 rating. McPherson's hat trick was also the first for a Jackals player this season.

The Kinburn, Ontario native has recorded 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 23 games with the Jackals this season while posting one goal in 15 games with the Rochester Americans.

McPherson split his rookie campaign between Elmira and Rochester earning 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 24 games with the Jackals while adding eight points (three goals, five assists) in 44 games with the Americans.

Prior to turning pro, McPherson reached the 100-point club at Clarkson University, amassing 103 points (41 goals, 62 assists) in 150 games. He earned Clarkson's Bill Harrison Most Valuable Player honor as a junior and a senior.

On behalf of Allan McPherson, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 33,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
