New Jersey Jackals News Release

Craig Conway and Keith Maxwell both went 3-for-4 and Darren Blakely added two hits and two RBI as the Jackals defeated Allentown 6-3 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.

New Jersey wasted little time getting to Ambassadors starter Chris Zallie (0-3), taking a 2-0 lead in the first on a Mike Glendenning RBI single and a Carlos Pagan sacrifice fly.

Three consecutive singles by John Anderson, Maxwell and Conway to start the second inning led to a Joe Kerrigan RBI groundout and a 3-0 lead.

The Jackals finally chased Zallie in the fourth. Maxwell led off with a single and Conway followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Blakely stroked a double one pitch later for a 5-0 advantage. Blakely would eventually score on a wild pitch.

New Jersey starter Chris Clark (1-1) picked up his first win of the year, pitching five strong innings before running into trouble in the sixth. On the evening he threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Ben Grezlovski pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save.
