ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (June 24, 2003) – Justin Davies had two key RBI and Justin Saturria hit a solo homer to lead the Long Island Ducks (24-26) over the Atlantic City Surf (24-25), 6-3, Tuesday evening at the Sandcastle in front of an announced crowd of 2,305.

The Ducks tallied three runs in the second and added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

The Surf scored first in the bottom of the first on an RBI single off the bat of Juan Thomas.

The Ducks countered in the top of the second with three runs on three hits, capped by a two-run single by Davies. Saturria roped a solo homer in the fifth to cap off the scoring for Long Island.

The Surf closed the gap in the sixth inning after Emison Soto hit a two-run homer off Pedro Borbon, Jr. to bring the Surf within three, but Borbon, Kevin McGlinchy and Oscar Henriquez held Atlantic City scoreless through the final three innings.

Surf starter Brian Williams (1-4) picked up the loss after pitching 3.1 innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits, while walking three and striking out two.

Ducks reliever Jon Cannon (2-4) picked up the win allowing no runs on one hit through three innings pitched.

Raul Marval, Brandon Jackson each had two hits while Brody Jackson added three hits for Atlantic City.

For Long Island, Derrick Gibson singled to extend his current hitting streak to 20 games. He was 1-3 on the night with two walks.

ON DECK: The Surf and the Ducks will play the final game of this series on Wednesday, June 25, at 6:35 p.m., at the Sandcastle. Surf Thundersticks will be given out to the first 1,000 fans ages 3-12 and lottery tickets will be given to the first 1,000 adults courtesy of New Jersey Lottery.
