Jackals Bring Back Kyle Bushee; Goulakos Heads to Rochester

ELMIRA, NY - January 12, 2016 - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Kyle Bushee from the Toledo Walleye in exchange for future considerations. Additionally, the team announced today that defenseman Spiro Goulakos has been recalled by Rochester.
Bushee, 30, rejoins the Jackals after beginning this season in Toledo and spending the 2014-15 season in Denmark. The veteran defenseman skated for Elmira from 2012-14, posting 61 points (16 goals, 45 assists) in 128 games. Bushee has played in 432 ECHL contests and 22 in the AHL over his eight-year career with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Johnstown Chiefs, Wheelings Nailers, Elmira Jackals and Toledo Walleye as well as the Portland Pirates, Manitoba Moose, St. Johns IceCaps, Norfolk Admirals, Binghamton Senators, Utica Comets and Adirondack Phantoms. Over his lengthy career, Bushee has recorded 158 points (39 goals, 119 assists) and 285 penalty minutes in 454 career games. Prior to turning pro, the Otsego, Mich. native skated for two seasons at Western Michigan University and two years at Canisius College.
Goulakos, 25, joins the Americans for the second time this season after skating in one contest to open his rookie campaign. In 32 games with Elmira, Goulakos has recorded 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) and 75 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2 195-pound defenseman leads all Jackals blueliners in scoring and assists while leading all Jackals skaters with four power-play goals. Prior to turning pro, the Montreal, Quebec native posted 71 points (22 goals, 49 assists) and 176 penalty minutes in 130 NCAA games while serving as a two-time captain at Colgate University.
