Playing in his fourth professional season, Johnston has suited up for 50 AHL games with the Adirondack Phantoms and Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Measuring in at 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds, Johnston comes to Indy with 124 games of ECHL experience, recording 54 points (15g, 39a) during stints with South Carolina, the Reading Royals, Orlando Solar Bears and Trenton Titans.
Prior to turning pro, Johnston spent parts of four seasons in the Saskachewan Junior Hockey League with the Flin Flon Bombers and the Humboldt Broncos, winning a SJHL championship in 2011-12 with Humboldt.
