Stingrays Trade Forward Andrew Johnston to Indy Fuel

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that they have traded forward Andrew Johnston to the Indy Fuel for future considerations.

Johnston, 24, was obtained by the Stingrays in a trade with the Missouri Mavericks on October 14, 2015. With the Stingrays, Johnston appeared in 14 games, scoring four points (two goals, two assists). The forward split time last season with the Reading Royals and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL). With Reading, Johnston scored 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 42 regular season games, and skated in seven playoff games versus the Stingrays, scoring four points. He had one assist in 14 games in the AHL.

The Stingrays are back home this Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 versus Alaska.
