Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced Thursday that they have acquired right winger Thomas Beauregard from the Johnstown Chiefs in exchange for right winger Bear Trapp and future considerations. Beauregard will arrive in Elmira on Thursday evening and will suit up for the Jackals when they host the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena.

Beauregard, traded to the Chiefs last Thursday from the Wheeling Nailers, is tied for second in the ECHL in 2009-2010 with 34 goals.

A Montreal, Quebec native, Beauregard led the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2007-2008, his rookie season, with 31 goals. Beauregard totaled nine goals and 16 points that postseason as the Cyclones won the 2008 Kelly Cup.

In his final season of junior hockey, Beauregard, playing for Acadie-Bathurst Titan, led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 71 goals and was second with 124 points. When Sidney Crosby led the QMJHL in goals scored in 2004-2005 with Rimouski Oceanic, he had 66. Beauregard is the all-time leading goal scorer for Acadie-Bathurst with 154 tallies.

Beauregard, a right-handed shot, was the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week from Jan. 11-17, scoring six goals in four games that week for the Nailers.

In 26 career games with the Jackals, Trapp recorded seven goals and 10 assists.

The Jackals host the K-Wings on Friday and the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday at First Arena, with both games starting at 7:35 p.m. For tickets, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto Ticketmaster.com.
