Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Dominic Leveille and John Osborne each scored twice as the Odessa Jackalopes routed the Mississippi RiverKings 6-0 tonight at Ector County Coliseum.

The Jackalopes scored two goals in each period against the RiverKings, who ended their three-games-in-three-nights road trip 0-2-1.

Ryan Palmer scored 4:11 into the game to give Odessa a 1-0 lead, but a miscue in the Mississippi end led to the second goal with 17 seconds left in the first period. RiverKings defenseman Jason Lawmaster lost the puck in his own slot while starting a power play breakout, and Osborne picked it up and put it in the net past Adam Hanna.

The onslaught continued in the second period, as Leveille scored off a face-off to the right of Hanna to make it 3-0 at 6:46. Osborne scored his second shorthanded goal of the game on a 2-on-1 break down the right side with 7:42 remaining in the period.

Leveille scored his second of the game 3:58 into the third period. Sebastien Thinel rounded out the scoring with 43 seconds remaining in the contest.

Mike Gorman made 33 saves for his first shutout of the season. Hanna made 17 saves.

The RiverKings went scoreles on the power play in six tries. The Jackalopes did not score on any of their three attempts with the extra man.

The RiverKings did not have the services of forward Rick Kozak or defenseman Cody Blanshan tonight. Kozak received his second match penalty of the season at the end of last night's game in North Richland Hills, Tex. against the Texas Brahmas. The league has suspended him indefinitely. As for Blanshan, he received a cross-checking major at the end of the game. However, the league only suspended him for tonight's game.

The RiverKings' host the Youngstown SteelHounds on Friday and Saturday next week at the DeSoto Civic Center. Both games begin at 7:05.
