Today's Match Up
December 1, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
Those Buggers: The Tulsa Oilers host the bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in today's matinee affair. It's the third game of a seven game homestand for the Oilers.
Records: Oilers are 5-9-1 with 11 points in fourth place in the Northwest Division.
Bossier-Shreveport is 8-6-2 for 18 points in third place in the Northeast Division.
Season Series: This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams. Joe Ori scored the only goal of the game with just under seven minutes to go as Bossier-Shreveport prevailed 1-0 on November 8th, in Bossier-Shreveport.
Recent Action: The Oilers dropped their first overtime contest (only two of their 15 games have gone past regulation) last night, rallying from a 4-1 deficit but eventually losing 5-4 in overtime to Oklahoma City. Bossier-Shreveport won for the eighth time in the last 10 games (a stretch that includes three consecutive shutouts) last night with a 7-2 home ice win over Youngstown.
Making Short Work: Team captain David Alexandre Beuaregard scored two shorthanded goals, just 47 seconds apart, last night. The Oilers who had no shorthanded goals in their first 13 games have now scored shorthanded goals in each of their last two games. Beauregard has three of the four shorthanded tallies.
Winging It: Defenseman Sheldon Wing had the goal which tied the game last night at 4-4. It was his first professional goal. Wing also had an assist on the Oilers second goal.
Loob Job: Wing wasn't the only defenseman making his first mark for the Oilers last night. Mike Looby assisted on Tulsa's first goal, giving him his first point since being acquired from Rio Grande Valley on November 14th.
Next Up: The Oilers homestand continues next Friday and Saturday against Austin and Oklahoma City, respectively. Both games start at 7:35 p.m. Bossier-Shreveport returns home to host Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
