August 1, 2018 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release
Clinton, IA - 2018 Clinton LumberKings All-Star Jack Larsen has earned a promotion to the High-A Modesto Nuts of the California League. In a corresponding move, the LumberKings will receive infielder Connor Hoover from the Short-Season Everett AquSox of the Northwest League.
Larsen, 23, was one of four all-stars this season for the LumberKings. Named to start for the Western Division All-Stars he was unable to attend the game due to a sore shoulder that landed him on the disable list. The southern California native was with Clinton since Opening Day and was a consistent force in the middle of the LumberKings lineup. At the time of his promotion he was batting .266 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs. In his final game as a LumberKing, on Tuesday night, he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored to help Clinton to a walk-off win over the Peoria Chiefs. His prolific numbers with the bases loaded will be something to remember. Larsen batted .600 (6/10) with two doubles, a triple, a grand slam, and 19 RBIs while slugging 1.300 with the bases loaded this season in Clinton. With his promotion, pitcher Ryne Inman is the only remaining 2018 All-Star on the roster.
Hoover, 22, comes to Clinton from the AquaSox after batting .232 with three home runs and 12 RBI. His time in Everett helped the team to capture a first half Norther Division title and his 2018 season saw brief time spent with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, appearing in one game. The Seattle Mariners selected Hoover in the 21st round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of Northern Georgia University.
The LumberKings will open up a three-game road trip and series with the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday night. Clinton will throw left-hander Ray Kerr (3-9, 4.15) while the River Bandits will tap righty Jairo Solis (1-4, 3.67). Game time is slated for 6:35 PM (CDT). Fans looking to listen to the game can hear Erik Oas on the call on 100.3 FM WCCI and online at lumberkings.com via the tunein radio ap at 6:20 PM with the pregame show.
