Dayton Dragons News Release
Wednesday, August 1, 2018 l Game # 39 (107)
Parkview Field l Fort Wayne, Ind. l 7:05 p.m.
Radio: Fox Sports 980 WONE
Dayton Dragons (18-20, 49-57) at Fort Wayne TinCaps (17-20, 49-57)
LH Packy Naughton (5-9, 4.47) vs. LH Tom Cosgrove (2-5, 4.39)
Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Fort Wayne TinCaps (affiliate of the San Diego Padres) in the first game of a three-game series. This is the start of a 13-game, 14-day road trip for the Dragons.
Season Series: Fort Wayne 5, Dayton 4. At Fort Wayne: TinCaps 2, Dragons 1. Current Series: First meeting.
Last Game: Tuesday: Lansing 8, Dayton 7. A big Dragons comeback bid fell just short as the Lugnuts won three-of-four in the series. Lansing built an 8-2 lead going to the bottom of the eighth inning before the Dragons rallied. Dayton scored five runs in the eighth, keyed by a three-run home run by Hendrik Clementina, to make it 8-7. The Dragons got a lead-off single from Alejo Lopez in the ninth but could not advance him. Lopez had three hits as part of an 11-hit Dayton attack. Clementina's home run was his second of the series and 14th of the year.
Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons currently are the #2 seed in the Second Half race, one-half game behind #1 seed West Michigan, and one-half game ahead of both Fort Wayne and Lake County. The top five teams in the Second Half race are separated by just one and one-half games.
2018 Team Notes
The Dragons batted .324 in the four-game series with Lansing. The Dragons had previously not hit .300 or higher in any series since May 18-20 vs. Great Lakes, when they hit .320.
The Dragons 3.66 ERA in the month of July was considerably better than the MWL average for the full season (3.83), but in an indication that July has been a good month for pitchers throughout the league, the Dragons July ERA ranked tied for 11th among the 16 MWL teams.
The Dragons have allowed three runs or less in 19 of their 38 second half games. Their second half ERA is 3.85 (5.31 in the first half).
The Dragons team ERA in their 49 wins is 2.71 (442 IP, 133 ER). In the 57 losses, it is 6.62 (485.1 IP, 357 ER).
2018 Individual Notes
Alejo Lopez over his last 15 games: 20 for 50, .400. He went 8 for 16 (.500) in the series with Lansing.

Transactions: Infielder Jeter Downs has been placed on the disabled list. Infielder Jonathan India has been promoted to Dayton from Billings. The addition of India gives the Dragons the Reds last two #1 draft picks (along with Hunter Greene, the 2017 first rounder). India was the 2018 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year at Florida, batting .350 with 21 home runs and 52 RBI in 68 games. He is the 17th Reds first round pick to play for the Dragons.
