
Ben Rodriguez rejoins Kernels from Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that C/INF Ben Rodriguez will rejoin the Kernels from Fort Myers; C David Bañuelos has been placed on the 7-day DL with a concussion; and INF Robby Rinn has been promoted to Fort Myers. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
Rodriguez was promoted to Fort Myers on July 24th. In 53 games for the Kernels this season, batting .254 with 8 HR and 22 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 38th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Pepperdine.
Bañuelos suffered his concussion during Tuesday's 8-1 win at Quad Cities. In 64 games for the Kernels, he was batting .220 with a HR and 18 RBI. He was acquired by the Twins in a trade with Seattle in December of 2017.
Rinn has played in 48 games for the Kernels since joining the team on May 29th. He was batting .305 with 3 HR and 21 RBI and was acquired by the Twins in a trade with Kansas City in March of 2018.
Rodriguez is active and available for tonight's 7:00 PM game at Peoria. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players currently on the DL.
The Kernels begin a three-game series in Peoria tonight at 7:00 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 4th to host Beloit at 6:35 PM.
