(County Stadium - Yakima, WA) - A two-run single off the bat of Canadians 2B Shane Opitz in the top of the 3rd inning scored both DH Jon Jones and RF Nick Baligod helping Vancouver snap a seven-game losing streak in Yakima on Sunday as the C's topped the Bears 7-3 out at County Stadium.

Vancouver jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the 1st inning when 1B Kevin Patterson crushed his 2dn home run of the summer off of Yakima starter RHP Teo Gutierrez that scored RF Nick Baligod in the process.

The Canadians would extend the lead to four in the top of the 3rd inning when 2B Shane Opitz smacked a single up the middle that scored both DH Jon Jones and RF Nick Baligod.

Patterson would eventually come around to count when SS Bryan Kervin hit an infield single out to second base. C Pierce Rankin drew a walk in the inning and also scored later in the frame when LF Yeico Aponte reached on an error giving Vancouver a 7-3 lead, which would end up being the final.

Notes: Canadians LHP Justin Nicolino left the game after taking a liner off of his forearm. He will be re-evaluated on Monday in Vancouver... 3B Balbino Fuenmayor missed his 3rd straight game after taking a pitch in the back of the helmet back on Thursday in Yakima. He will also be re-evaluated on Monday in Vancouver... 2B Jon Berti will be activated off the seven-day Disabled List after dealing with a tender hamstring.

With the victory, Vancouver improves to 6-13 (.316) on the second half of the NWL season and remains six games back of the West Division leading Aquasox who topped Tri-City on Sunday afternoon in Everett, WA.
