(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club is proud to announce that Shawn McDermott has been named the Northwest League Trainer of the Year for the 2011 season as voted on by his peers within the NWL.

In his 3rd year within the Toronto Blue Jays organization, McDermott graduated from the University of South Florida after growing up in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

"I'm very proud to receive this Northwest League honour, but it goes without saying that it is a team award. Our entire staff has been instrumental in helping me made the transition to Vancouver and the Canadians organization has been a pleasure to work with. I am very thankful to have the support of so many great people."

In addition to his day-to-day maintenance with the Canadians players, Shawn is also largely responsible for the travel operations and border communications as well as player and personnel movement.

McDermott becomes the third consecutive Vancouver Canadians Trainer to win the honour dating back to 2007 as both Nate Brooks and Travis Tims received the honour while with the C's.
