An unearned run in the sixth inning doomed the Iowa Cubs as they fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes 2-1 Wednesday night at Principal Park.

The Isotopes opened the scoring in the sixth inning on a RBI double by Chase Lambin. Lambin came around to score on a throwing error by third baseman Bobby Scales on a grounder by John Gall to give the Isotopes a 2-0 lead.

The lone Iowa run came in the sixth inning when Jake Fox launched a solo home run to left field.

Iowa reliever Les Walrond was tagged with the loss after surrendering the runs in the sixth. Albuquerque starter Doug Waechter held the Cubs scoreless for five innings to record the win.

The Cubs and Isotopes meet in the finale of their four-game series Thursday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. Iowa's Sean Gallagher will start against Albuquerque's Bobby Keppel.
