Tucson AZ - Salt Lake scored the first eight runs of the game against the Sidewinders and did not look back, defeating Tucson 12-3 at Tucson Electric Park on Wednesday Night. Salt Lake's Matt Brown finished the game with a cycle, hitting a single, triple, double, and homerun in his first four bats of the game.
Salt Lake took an early lead in the 2nd from a Ryan Budde triple that scored two runs off of Sidewinders starter Billy Buckner. The Bees added to the 2-0 lead by Brad Coon's bunt single that brought in Budde. After the bunt Salt Lake scored two more times from a Sean Rodriguez double and Terry Evans single making it 5-0.
The Bees added two more in the 3rd to extend their lead to 7-0. The inning started with Matt Brown's triple to right. Former Sidewinder Dee Brown brought him in on a sacrifice fly. The Bees scored their second run of the inning from an Adam Pavkovich RBI double.
In the 4th Salt Lake's Matt Brown plating Terry Evans from third with a 2-out double putting the Bees up 8-0.
Tucson Reliever Emiliano Fruto came in the 5th inning silencing the Bees bats in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Josh Whitesell led the Sidewinders 6th off with his second double of the season and later scored on a balk by Bees righty Nick Adenhart, one of two balks by Adenhart in the game.
The Sidewinders closed the gap to five with two more runs in the 7th. Tim Raines Jr. tripled to center scoring Emilio Bonifacio from first. Tucson's next batter, Javier Brito, hit a line drive single to right scoring Raines Jr. and making it 8-3 game.
Bee's Matt Brown completed the cycle in the 8th by hitting a 2-run homerun to left. Salt Lake added a third run in the 8th and another in the 9th to complete the scoring 12-3 in the Bees favor.
The Sidewinders will face the Salt Lake Bees in the last game of a four game series starting at 6:30 PM on Thursday night. RHP Juan Gutierrez (0-0, 1.50) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Right-hander Shane Loux (0-0, 1.59) will start for the Bees. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:15 p.m.
