
Sounds Host 2008 Home Opener On Friday At Greer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After beginning the 2008 season with an eight-game road trip, the three-time defending division champion Nashville Sounds will kick off the home portion of their schedule with their home opener on Friday at Greer Stadium against the division-rival Iowa Cubs.
The Sounds will play a four-game series against both the Cubs and Omaha Royals during their initial eight-game homestand.
Fourth-year manager Frank Kremblas leads the Sounds into action in Friday's 7 p.m. series opener against the Cubs. All fans attending the game will receive a complimentary 2008 Sounds magnet schedule from AIG.
Friday's contest will also kick off Navy Weekend at Greer Stadium, which will include a variety of activities throughout the stadium on Friday and Saturday. The Navy Band will perform on the stage inside the front gates on both nights for an hour prior to the game as well as perform the national anthem. The Naval color guard will also be on hand for both games. Sailors will be in attendance and have to throw out the first pitch and greet fans with giveaways as they enter the stadium. There will a SEAL team "motivator" for pictures.
Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and all fans will again receive complimentary Sounds magnet schedules from AIG. Navy Weekend activities will continue on Saturday.
Sunday's game against the Cubs will be at 2 p.m. This will also mark the first Purity Sundae Sunday of the season. Purity Dairies will be providing ice cream sundaes to all fans throughout Greer Stadium for only $1 during the game every Sunday home game this season.
On Monday, the Sounds will finish out their four-game series against Iowa. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. It is Dollar Dog Night at Greer on Monday night, which means hot dogs are only $1 at every concession stand in the stadium.
The Sounds begin their four-game series against division-rival Omaha on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tuesday is Popcorn Indiana Night, when fans can present a receipt showing the purchase of a four-ounce bag of Popcorn Indiana Kettlecorn from Walgreen's to receive two tickets for the price of one on any Tuesday this season.
The second game of the series against Omaha will be a day game at noon on Wednesday.
Thursday's contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the Miller Lite Concert Series will be offering Sounds fans a free, one-hour concert performed by local band Delilah Why prior to the start of the game. It will also be the first Thirsty Thursday of the year at Greer Stadium. All draft beverages are only $1 throughout Greer Stadium until the end of the 5th inning or 8:30 p.m., whichever comes first.
The final game of the homestand will take place on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
After the homestand, the Sounds will depart on an eight-game road trip to face the Albuquerque Isotopes and Omaha Royals in two four-game series. The team returns to Music City for its second homestand beginning on Monday, April 28 with series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Salt Lake Bees.
