Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

With a crowd of 13,576 on-hand to see Sunday's home finale, the Albuquerque Isotopes established a new standard for most fans to ever see a season of baseball in Albuquerque with a total throng of 593,606 in 71 dates, obliterating the old mark of 582,839 set in 2005. The 'Topes also set a record for per-game average attendance with 8,361, breaking the previous mark of 8,304 set in 2006.

"It's been an incredible season, and we're very fortunate to have the support of the best fans in Minor League Baseball," said Albuquerque General Manager John Traub. "This record is testament to the great passion the people of Albuquerque have for baseball as well as the Isotopes, and we're thrilled that Isotopes Park continues to be a great place for family-friendly entertainment."

The Isotopes got off to a fast start, drawing a total of 126,960 in 17 games in April and May before summer really heated up the turnstiles. With a crowd of 15,189 on-hand to see the Isotopes on July 4, the team set a record for largest crowd at a single game, half of an Independence Day weekend that saw nearly 30,000 people come to The Lab.

With the record in sight, the 'Topes finished extremely strong, drawing more than 10,000 in three of the last four contests, racking up 54,149 over the last five-game series with the Zephyrs to easily re-write the record books.

The Isotopes home season concluded Sunday, but the team will head out on the road for eight games to finish out the 2008 campaign. Albuquerque opens a four game set in Nashville on Monday against the Sounds with left-hander Chris Seddon (9-9, 5.21) taking on Sounds lefty Chris Narveson (6-12, 5.14) in a 5:00 PM MT start from Greer Stadium.

While the 2008 home season is in the books, it's never too early to start thinking about 2009 at The Lab! For information on Isotopes 2009 season tickets and mini-plans, please call (505) 924-2255.
