Isotopes Fall to Skeeters Despite Stellar Pitching

September 17, 2021 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Skeeters 2 (68-48), Isotopes 1 (51-65) - Constellation Field | Sugar Land, TX

AT THE DISH: Albuquerque recorded only four hits ... Alan Trejo doubled twice giving him 33 for the season in 76 Triple-A games ... Trejo is eight two-baggers away from tying John Lindsey's single-season club record from 2010 ... Taylor Snyder led off the eighth with a triple and scored on Ryan Vilade's RBI single.

TOEING THE RUBBER: The Isotopes also allowed just four hits ... Starter Dereck Rodríguez (3-6, 6.99) led the way by pitching six innings of two-run ball but recorded a tough-luck losing decision as Ronnie Dawson's two-run double in the fifth was the difference ... Zac Rosscup and Jake Bird each twirled a perfect frame with Rosscup striking out the side.

TOPES TIDBITS: The loss was Albuquerque's fourth straight on the road and they have dropped 13 of their last 16 away games ... The Topes are 8-18 against Sugar Land in 2021 ... Rodríguez has allowed just three earned runs over 11.1 innings combined between his last two starts ... For the sixth time this season, the Isotopes have dropped the first two games of a series.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Skeeters will meet up for a 5:05 MT (6:05 CT) start on Saturday from Constellation Field. The pitching matchup is slated to be a pair of right-handers who have led the way for their respective staffs this year, as Frank Duncan (5-2, 4.22) is scheduled to throw for Albuquerque against Sugar Land's Peter Solomon (8-1, 4.70).
