Islanders Name Roster, Several Players Assigned To Sound Tigers

Uniondale, NY - The New York Islanders have reassigned seven players to their top affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. A total of 26 players remain with the Islanders, 23 on the active roster and three on the Injured Reserve. Including the injured players, the team is carrying two goaltenders, 10 defensemen and fourteen forwards.

Goaltender Yann Danis, forwards Jeremy Colliton, Mitch Fritz, Tim Jackman, Kurtis McLean and Trevor Smith and defenseman Chris Lee have been reassigned to Bridgeport.

The Islanders roster includes 21 players who were on the team's final roster from last season along with free agent acquisitions Mark Streit and Doug Weight, 2008 first round draft pick Josh Bailey along with new defensemen Thomas Pock and Brett Skinner.

Defenseman Chris Campoli (shoulder), Center Mike Sillinger (hip surgery) and defenseman Andy Sutton (hand surgery) have been placed on the Injured Reserve.

The Sound Tigers' season begins this Friday night when the Sound Tigers travel to Philadelphia to take on the Phantoms. The team's home-opener is on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. when the Sound Tigers face-off against the Albany River Rats. Tickets for the game are on sale now at the Arena at Harbor Yard Box Office.
