Islanders Agree to Terms with Frischmon

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (July 5, 2011) - The New York Islanders announced today they have agreed to terms with center Trevor Frischmon on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.

Frischmon, 29, joins the Islanders organization after spending the previous five seasons as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Ham Lake, Minn. native was a member of the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League last season and had a career year, scoring 29 points (four goals, 25 assists) in 80 games.

The 6'0", 200-pound center has appeared in 327 career AHL games, recording 102 points (21 goals, 81 assists) and 178 penalty minutes between Springfield and the Syracuse Crunch. Frischmon made his NHL debut during the 2009-10 season with Columbus and did not record a point in three games.

Prior to turning pro, the veteran center attended Colorado College of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association from 2002-06 and totaled 30 goals and 36 assists in 160 games.

Frischmon began his career in 1999 playing junior hockey with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League.
