Anaheim Ducks Sign Defenseman Bryan Rodney

Syracuse, NY (July 5, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Bryan Rodney to a one-year contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rodney, 27, appeared in 77 games with Charlotte last season, finishing tenth among all AHL blueliners after tallying a career-high 47 points (9g, 38a) along with 38 penalty minutes. In addition, he skated in three games with Carolina last season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes.

A native of London, Ontario, Rodney has appeared in 239 career AHL games with Hartford (2005-06), Albany River Rats (2007-10), and Charlotte (2010-11), collecting 136 points (24g, 112a) with 130 penalty minutes. A 2010 AHL All-Star, he has also scored 14 points (3g, 11a) with 22 penalty minutes in 31 career Calder Cup Playoff games. Rodney has skated in 33 career NHL games since the 2008-09 season, all with Carolina, recording 13 points (1g, 12a) with 12 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on December 11, 2008 vs. Philadelphia and scored his first career NHL goal against Semyon Varlamov on March 25, 2010 vs. Washington.
