Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO - The Kansas City T-Bones snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, behind a Lucas Irvine complete-game shutout Sunday at Newman Outdoor Field.

Irvine threw 114 pitches in a four-hit start for his second win of the season. Irvine struck out five batters and didn't allow a walk against a RedHawks lineup that had only one runner reach third.

The RedHawks had a total of four hits by four players in the game. Nic Jackson presented the best chance for Fargo-Moorhead to score in the ballgame by advancing to third with one out on a C.J. Retherford groundout, after he reached base on a double. Keith Brachold hit a two-out line drive to center field, but T-Bones outfielder Kennard Jones made a diving catch to end the threat.

RedHawks starter Paul Burnside struggled in the early going. In the first, Burnside walked the leadoff hitter and hit Jairo Perez with a pitch before Matt Padgett hit an RBI single and Nathan Ramler drove in Perez on a groundout. In the second, Trevor Coleman hit a solo home run to give the T-Bones a 3-0 lead.

Burnside dropped to 3-5 with the loss in six-plus innings pitched. Burnside gave up four earned runs on four hits, two walks and struck out two. Ethan Opsahl and Nate Kilcrease combined to pitch a scoreless three innings of relief.

With the loss, the RedHawks ended a five-game winning streak and are now 25-18. The 'Hawks head to Lincoln to face the Saltdogs in a four-game series beginning Tuesday, July 2 at 7:05 p.m. at Haymarket Park. The club returns home Saturday, July 6, to host the Sioux City Explorers at 7:02 p.m. Tickets are available at fmredhawks.com or by calling (701) 235-6161.
