Sioux City Explorers News Release

Wichita, KS-----Jason Jarvis scattered seven hits in a 2-0 complete game shutout victory for the Explorers over the Wichita Wingnuts here Sunday afternoon.

It was the second complete game of the season for Jarvis who walked two and struck out two in picking up his fifth win of the year as the Explorers broke a four-game losing streak with the victory.

Jarvis allowed only one Wichita runner to reach third base and that came in the seventh inning. With runners at first and third and one out, the league leading hitter Abel Nieves hit into an inning ending double play to turn the Wingnuts away without a run.

In the ninth inning Jarvis gave up a lead off single and then walked John Rodriguez, but retired the next three batters to close out the victory.

Sam Judah drove in both Explorer runs with a sacrifice fly RBI in the first and a run-scoring single in the fifth. Alberto Espinosa had three hits and Anthony Kaskadden had two hits to lead the Explorers in hitting.

With a day off Monday, the Explorers will return to Lewis and Clark Park Tuesday to start a four-game series with Gary SouthShore. Game time Tuesday will be 7:05pm.
