
Great Pitching and Timely Hitting Beats Lemurs

Laredo, TX - The Amarillo Sox (26-15) put together a three run seventh along with great pitching from starter Ryan Mitchell to beat the Laredo Lemurs (23-18) 3-2 on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
Sox starter Ryan Mitchell (5-2) came out firing as he retired the first nine batters he faced in order.ÃâàMitchell gave up his first base runner of the game when he walked Jimmy Mojica to lead off the fourth.ÃâàThe Lemurs did not pick up their first base hit until Sawyer Carroll came to the plate with two outs in the sixth.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
Altogether, Mitchell threw six and two thirds, giving up one run, on one hit, with four walks, and seven strikeouts, as he delivered 119 pitches on the night.ÃâàMitchell's great outing moves him to 5-2 on the year, winning his last four starts.ÃâÃÂ
The seventh inning proved to be the difference for the Sox offensively, as they saw Brandon Jones lead off the frame with a homerun off Lemurs relief pitcher Jamison Maj, (0-1) to tie the score at one a piece.ÃâàThe inning would continue for the Sox with the next batter Trey Ford reaching on a walk.ÃâàMaj got the next two batters out, when Lemurs manager Pete Incaviglia brought in Mark Haynes out of the pen.ÃâàHaynes walked the first batter he faced putting runners at first and second.ÃâàThe next batter Joe Weik doubled to score both runners and give the Sox a 3-1 lead.ÃâÃÂ
Jamison May took the loss going one complete, giving up two runs, on one hit, and a walk.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
Palmer Karr Jr. homered in the ninth to bring the Lemurs within one run of the lead, but Cory Patton would nail down the save for the Sox.ÃâÃÂ
The Lemurs are now three games behind the Sox in the American Association South Division with the rubber match of the series taking place tomorrow night at 7:30pm at Uni-Trade Stadium.ÃâÃÂ
