
IronPigs fall to WooSox on Thursday

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (28-40) dropped their second straight game to the Worcester Red Sox (37-29) on Thursday night as the WooSox won 7-5. The IronPigs committed three errors in the game, which was a season-high and left nine players on base.
The WooSox scored two runs against David Parkinson in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Connor Wong hit an RBI single to score Yairo Munoz then Wong scored on a fielding error by Parkinson. Worcester scored another run against Parkinson in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead as Munoz hit an RBI single to score Josh Ockimey.
Charlie Tilson hit a two-run double against Matt Kent in the bottom of the second inning to score Jorge Bonifacio and Daniel Brito to cut Worcester's lead to 3-2. The double for Tilson was his sixth of the season. The WooSox got another run in the top of the fourth inning against Parkinson as Michael Gettys hit a sacrifice fly to score Jonathan Arauz.
Worcester took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Chris Herrmann hit a solo home run against Parkinson. The home run for Herrmann was his sixth of the season. Daniel Brito hit his first triple-A home run, a two-run blast against Kevin McCarthy in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the WooSox lead to 5-4.
Herrmann gave the WooSox a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning when he hit a sacrifice fly to score Munoz. Lehigh Valley inched closer in the bottom of the seventh inning when Darick Hall scored on a fielding error by Chad De La Guerra. Munoz homered against Brady Lail in the top of the ninth inning to give Worcester a 7-4 lead. It was his fifth home run of the season.
Mickey Moniak's 11-game hitting streak came to an end on Thursday night. He finished the night going 0-for-5.
The IronPigs and WooSox play again on Friday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
